On Friday and Saturday our sister I Heart Station WNNJ hosted it's inaugural radiothon for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Steve Allan and I were asked to help. We were both happy to do it. We didn't know what to expect. As always our listeners came through. The radiothon ended at 7PM on Saturday with $30,000 on the tote board. Way beyond what we expected. The local business who donated to St Jude's and sponsored the radiothon were: The Basement Transformer, Frederick's Fuel and Heating Service, Tire King in Sussex and Berkshire Hathaway Gross and Jansen Realtors. Next year I hope more local businesses can help us help kids fight cancer.
A big Thank You to our Vice President of Programming Chris Marino. Chris spent his entire day Friday and Saturday on the air with host Borasio, Steve Allan and me. Our regional sales manager Ava, finance manager Sharon and promotions director Felicia helped both days too. In the end it was your generosity that touched all of us.
When I mentioned this in church yesterday the entire congregation was moved. At first I heard a collective "ohhhh" then applause.
Helping Kids Fight Cancer is a serious topic. Along the way we had some fun too. Comical video posts on social media were fun to make and encouraged donations.
On Sunday I was still tired but I did manage to mow my front lawn and enjoy the beautiful cherry blossom tree in my front yard.
